Domingo J.Casas
Fotógrafo Contemporáneo
Born in Madrid in 1961, Domingo J. Casas emigrated with his family to Australia, returning to Spain at the age of ten. This early experience of two worlds deeply shaped his photographic eye and his ability to capture the cultural essence of different eras.
A photographer whose camera has recorded, since 1979, both the best of the 'movida madrileña' and the great stars of national and international rock and pop, from the 80s to today. Domingo J. Casas radiates, threefold: enthusiasm, enthusiasm, enthusiasm. His passion for photography and music has become a visual testimony spanning more than four decades of contemporary culture.
He has lived for 20 years in the Región de Murcia, alongside his partner Soraya, who, in his own words, 'is the best thing that has ever happened to me.' From there he continues his photographic work, documenting both established artists and new promises of the music scene.
Three of his photographs — 'Fernando Estrella y Rossy de Palma,' 'Antonio Alvarado y Luz Casal,' and 'Antonio Banderas, Pedro Almodóvar y Eusebio Poncela,' all from the 1980s — are part of the exhibition 'Madrid. Crónica creativa de los 80' organized by PhotoEspaña 2023 at the Fundación Canal de Madrid. A striking image of his of Chris Cornell, from 2003, is a portrait of the photographer himself: he was born to do exactly what he does.
