Héctor Acevedo
Visual artist
A contemporary Peruvian painter with over 33 years of experience, internationally recognized for his work that explores memory, silence, and inner reflections.
Héctor Acevedo was born in Lima in 1963. In 1986, he entered the National Higher Autonomous School of Fine Arts of Peru (ENSABAP) to study drawing and painting, while simultaneously pursuing civil engineering studies at the National University of Engineering (UNI).
Both degrees demanded considerable effort and likely presented the future artist with different perspectives on life. Between the demands of engineering studies and his lifelong commitment to art, Acevedo faced a complex decision and chose to pursue the visual arts, where he found his true vocation and personal fulfillment.
With over 33 years of professional experience, from 1989 to the present, his work has been exhibited in major galleries and museums in Europe, the Americas, and Asia. His work is characterized by a profound exploration of the human condition, addressing themes such as memory, the exile of consciousness, and the fragmented spaces of the soul.
He has been awarded prestigious international prizes, including First Prize at the 5th International Biennial of Argentina 2022 and Fourth Prize at the 13th Florence Biennale 2021. His work is part of important private and public collections in the Americas, Europe, and the United States.
