José Ramón Campomanes

José Ramón Campomanes

Artista Plástico

Born and raised in León, a city in northern Spain, José Ramón Campomanes always felt a particular calling toward painting and art in general. Despite having taken various painting courses and having participated in competitions and exhibitions, José Ramón followed a more practical path at that stage of his life, in the field of Health Sciences, since a career as a painter was considered a dead end and he needed financial stability at the time.

After graduating in Veterinary Medicine and earning an MBA, José Ramón joined the Health sector, where he spent more than 30 years, remaining connected to the world of painting and art throughout that time. In 2020, José Ramón lost interest in the world of large multinational corporations and took the risk of becoming a full-time artist.

His art explores the beauty found in open spaces, which serve as a vehicle to speak about the ephemeral and the intangible. Light, color, and texture are hallmarks of José Ramón Campomanes, elements that allow him to create a style as personal as it is recognizable. He favors bright colors, geometric shapes, and energetic strokes applied with a palette knife.

The León-born artist describes himself as a storyteller, an exercise he carries out not through writing but through color and form. 'I love telling my own stories, based on my own experiences or on places I know, since I have traveled a great deal through Spain and other countries. The most beautiful thing about art is that you can let your thoughts and creativity flow freely. Like all artists, I also speak through color, not only through words.'
