Manuel Obregón
Artista Plástico
Painter from Cádiz based in Granada. His work moves between two strands: urban and metallic landscape painting, centered on the fluidification of the aesthetic object through reflections and fluids; and the forms of the Baroque. Born in Cádiz in 1971, Manuel Obregón was impressed from a very early age by light and his own culture, focusing above all on the grandeur of Cádiz's Baroque heritage. At the Jesuit Church of Santiago, he spent all his time drawing and painting, beginning to shape his particular universe around the evocation of pain through the morphology of sculptural imagery.
After beginning his secondary education in Cádiz, he moved to Málaga to continue in the Artistic Baccalaureate specialty in 1988. He later moved to Granada to enroll at the Alonso Cano Faculty of Fine Arts, where he explored different artistic interests. During this time he received a scholarship for a Landscape Course at the Fundación Rodríguez Acosta.
In 1994 he spent a year in Bologna, at the Academy of Fine Arts, which he used to draw closer to the masters of Italian painting. Upon his return to Granada in 1995, he earned his degree and continued with doctoral studies within the Research Group on the current meaning of art through new image technologies.
In 2019 he returned to Granada at a stage of greater maturity, where Obregón paints with much more intensity and fluidity than ever before. He currently divides his work between teaching at the Instituto Aricel in Albolote and painting.
