Irene Pérez
Irene Pérez (Santander, 1996) is an artist who graduated in Fine Arts from the University of the Basque Country UPV/EHU (2018).
Her works present a psychological portrait of society. Through figurative and abstract styles, she represents the hidden reality that remains within each of us and that we are unable to express outwardly.
Depression, anxiety, or frustration are some of the psychological states the artist reflects through texture, often accompanied by the realistic figure of a man in a suit as a symbol of success and power.
A way of making visible what is imperceptible to our eyes: all those negative emotions or feelings that are, in truth, necessary and part of a process of evolution and learning.
She focuses primarily on the concepts of 'Success' and 'Resilience,' exploring the idea that falls or failures are as inevitable as they are essential. 'Accepting and facing adverse situations in order to learn from them is also a triumph.'
Her exhibition history includes more than 25 shows between 2018 and 2026, in venues such as Espacio Cultural ZAWP (Bilbao), ABC Serrano (Madrid), the Centro Nacional de Fotografía and Tabacalera (Santander), the JUSTMAD and ART MADRID fairs, MEAM in Barcelona, The Crypt Gallery in London, and group shows in Oslo and Nashville, among others.
