Pedro Flores
Pedro Flores was born in Murcia on February 5, 1897, into a humble family. He studied with the Marist and Jesuit orders, but at the age of ten began working as an apprentice in a decorative painting workshop, taking part in the decoration of the Teatro Circo Villar and the Moderno and El Sol cafés. In 1908 he began attending classes at the Academy of Fine Arts of the Real Sociedad Económica de Amigos del País, later continuing at the Círculo de Bellas Artes.
Alongside Luis Garay, he worked in a lithography workshop and learned photographic retouching techniques, drawing inspiration from photographs he took in the orchards of Murcia. He soon won several awards for his paintings, and in 1927 gained significant critical recognition through a group exhibition with Ramón Gaya and Luis Garay at the Dalmau Gallery in Barcelona.
