The Pabellón Villanueva at Madrid's Royal Botanical Garden hosts, from September 25 to January 13, 2027, the exhibition 'El Último Refugio' by Peruvian artist Héctor Acevedo, a show that draws visitors into an imaginary landscape that seems to emerge from a dream. A universe populated by symbolic and mysterious elements, where the female figure, surrounded by nature, takes center stage.
The exhibition is supported by Michels de Champourcin, the Fundación Obra Pía de los Pizarro, the Embassy of Peru in Spain, and ARTPEC, and brings together a body of work that situates the artist within the realm of contemporary dreamlike art. As curator María del Socorro Morac explains, the artist's painting 'moves away from strict surrealism to build a language of its own, symbolic and postmodern, born from automatism yet charged with cultural references.'
María-Paz Martín, director of the Royal Botanical Garden, states that 'Acevedo's work invites us to look beyond the visible: flying figures, trees that become shelter and memory, a territory where reality and dreams coexist naturally.'
